Giving

Gifts made to the Flynn Fund provide the essential resources Boston College Athletics needs to recruit the best and brightest student-athletes to campus—those who are among the most driven to succeed both on and off the field.

FLYNN FUND GIVING

Current-use gifts provide an immediate boost, helping to fund scholarships not covered by the Boston College endowment. Some Eagles would not be here without their scholarships, and the University’s steadfast commitment to need-blind admissions ensures that those who are deserving will be able to attend. Removing this barrier gives our teams and coaches more freedom to recruit the talent that helps us win.

For example, our women’s basketball team was able to fund an overseas trip to Italy through current-use support. The trip achieved two important goals: It allowed the team to benefit from extra training days against a new level of competition; and it enhanced recruiting as our coaches were able to speak to prospective student-athletes about the unique opportunity to travel overseas as part of their BC Women’s Basketball experience.

Here are some examples of how your gift makes a difference:

  • $150 grants a new pair of sneakers for the men’s basketball players
  • $3,000 purchases a pitching machine for baseball training
  • $12,000 funds an offseason trip for women’s lacrosse, an opportunity to face top-25 opponents outside of New England

GIFT FUNDS

FLYNN FUND SCHOLAR-ATHLETES

With a gift of $25,000, a donor may fund the scholarship of a single student-athlete in any athletics program for an entire year. This is a good alternative to a multi-year commitment made to an endowment and the gift provides the University with resources it can use immediately to provide financial-aid to one of our 700+ student-athletes.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

Special projects for facilities or technology provide unique funding opportunities. Current facility projects are ongoing for the Barry Gallup ’69 Sports Medicine Center and the Hoag Basketball Pavilion.
ENDOWMENTS
Endowment gifts ensure that sufficient income exists to support our student-athletes in perpetuity. These funds are invested in the University’s endowment and a percentage of the return on that investment goes to support the designation of the donor’s choosing.

RESTRICTED GIFTS

Donors who wish to support a specific varsity sport may make a contribution directly to that team. Funding provided through this medium is used at the coach’s discretion. Gifts made to restricted funds may not be eligible for donor-based seating and parking benefits.
